Victoria Cooney, LMHC

Victoria Cooney is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Intern in Florida. Victoria was born and raised in Peru. She speaks English, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese, which allows her to communicate with the international patient in their native language.

Victoria specializes in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, depression, and comorbidities, including mood disorders, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and personality disorders.

Victoria is part of the parenting training and family retreat team. Parenting someone with OCD and related disorders isn't the same as conventional parenting, as nurturing parents often reassure OCD behaviors. At NBI, while the patient is in the clinic, the family receives support and psycho-educational information related to their loved ones' conditions and treatment to assist them in succeeding during treatment and in life.

Victoria's primary treatment modalities include:

  • Exposure and response prevention (ERP).

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).

  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

  • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

Level 3 Gottman Method Couples Counseling.

Victoria likes to explore the philosophical framework of these treatment modalities beyond psychotherapy with patients and link the potential to inform and transform personal narratives.
