Ciana Mickolus, Psy.D.

Ciana Mickolus, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist in Florida and New York. Dr. Mickolus specializes in treating anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, eating disorders/disordered eating, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. She uses a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach, incorporating elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She is trained in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), a parent intervention for children and adolescents with anxiety and related problems. She is also trained in the Comprehensive Behavioral Model (ComB) for treating Trichotillomania and other Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors.

Dr. Mickolus earned her doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She completed her internship and postdoctoral residency at Northeast Florida State Hospital. She has additional experience in various treatment settings (residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient) before joining the NBI team. In addition to treating patients at NBI in individual and group formats, she also supervises trainees through NBI’s APPIC post-doctoral training program.

Dr. Mickolus helps you identify what you can change to live the life you want. Sessions focus on understanding the impact of your symptoms on day-to-day functioning and then applying skills to reduce that impact. The practice of new skills is encouraged both during and between sessions. Mental health issues do not need to be barriers to the life you want to live
