Michael Sheffield, Psy.D.

Michael Sheffield, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist in Florida and New York.  Dr. Sheffield completed his doctorate and master’s in clinical psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and his bachelor’s in psychology at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL.  He completed his predoctoral internship at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, IN, and his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL.

 Dr. Sheffield specializes in the treatment of the obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and extensive comorbidities, including mood disorders, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and personality disorders.  Through the TLC Foundation, he has completed advanced training in treating body-focused repetitive behaviors (e.g., skin picking and hair pulling). He is a graduate of the Virtual Professional Training Institute (VPTI).

    

Dr. Sheffield’s primary treatment modalities include exposure and response prevention (ERP), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).  

 Dr. Sheffield actively supervises NBI’s postdoctoral residents and plans to pursue board certification in clinical psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
