Julie Featherman, LMHC

Julie Featherman, LMHC completed her Bachelor of Science in Marketing with minors in Public Relations and Psychology from Lehigh University and a Master of Science in Higher Education from Syracuse University, before making a professional shift to mental health counseling, completing a Master of Arts in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech. Ms. Featherman is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Florida, maintains her license in professional counseling (LPC) in Virginia, and is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).

Ms. Featherman completed her internship at The Women’s Center in Vienna, VA, where she provided individual, couples, career, and group counseling to a wide range of low-income clients. Ms. Featherman stayed on at The Women’s Center during her residency, while also working for the Fairfax/Falls Church Community Services Board, serving as a Behavioral Health Specialist at the Woodburn Place Crisis Care Program, 16-bed county-wide crisis stabilization facility. Through this role, Ms. Featherman had the opportunity to work with clients with a wide range of diagnoses, including generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, co-occurring substance abuse issues, among others.

During her residency, Ms. Featherman took part in a six-day intensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training academy, a two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST) interactive workshop on suicide first aid, and a three-day Advanced Clinical Training in CBT-Based Treatment for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors. Ms. Featherman is an active member of The TLC Foundation for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors, having previously run support groups for individuals with BFRB’s and presents regularly at the organization’s annual conference.
