undefinedDee Ross Franklin M.A. is a Pre-Doctoral Intern at the Neurobehavioral Institute (NBI) in Weston. She is an experienced Masters-level therapist with over 12yrs working in mental health care industry, both in Florida and in her native South Africa, and has a demonstrated history as a solid clinician and a well-liked team member. Ms. Franklin joins the NBI team with skills and experience practicing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), in-vivo and imaginal exposures, group therapy, individual therapy, clinical research, family therapy and case management. Ms. Franklin is a certified provider of the Unified Protocol (U.P.) and received intensive training in Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) in Toronto. She has been registered with the South African Health Professionals Council since 2007 as a registered counselor and is seeking licensure (LMHC) through Florida’s Psychology Board.

For 10 years Ms. Franklin was employed at the Renfrew Center of Coconut Creek in several different positions: Clinical Training Specialist, IOP Team Leader, Primary Therapist and Practicum Student. During this time, she developed a strong background in treating eating disorders, trauma, the anxiety spectrum of disorders, depression and substance use.

Over the years Ms. Franklin has presented on a variety of topics at conferences, webinars, professional colloquia and staff clinical trainings, and has contributed on two peer-reviewed articles. Most recently she co-authored a therapy manual titled “Unified Protocol for Eating Disorders and Comorbidity: A Transdiagnostic Therapy Manual”. Ms. Franklin has a passion and a gift for writing, be it academic, professional or more creatively based, and has put this skill to good use in program design, staff training and implementation, generating handbooks, articles and numerous patient therapy materials and worksheets.

Ms. Franklin graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) in Psychology and Socio-Cultural Anthropology, and a Masters in Psychology (cum laude) from Wits University in Johannesburg. Her Masters dissertation explored the topic of Personality Assessment using the NEO-PI-R, where she investigated issues of language bias that occur when the inventory is administered in non-Western communities. Ms. Franklin is currently a PsyD candidate through Capella University, working on a program development dissertation that involves designing a training program for healthcare providers and school administrators.

Ms. Franklin works under the supervision of senior licensed psychologists at NBI and hopes to transition to a Post-Doctoral Resident pending the completion of her doctoral requirements.
