Wilfredo Rivera, PsyD
Dr. Rivera earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Neuropsychology from Carlos Albizu University, graduating with distinction. Prior to joining the Neurobehavioral Institute of Weston (NBI) as a Post-Doctoral Fellow, Dr. Rivera did had Post-Doctoral training at the Institute for Child and Family Health. There, he performed psychological and psychoeducational evaluations for children and adolescents with academic, developmental, behavioral, and emotional disturbances. Dr. Rivera’s Pre-Doctoral Clinical Internship was at the Goodman Psychological Services Center. During his internship training, he not only conducted psychoeducational and neuropsychological assessments and also provided psychotherapy to adults, couples, children, and families using a Cognitive-Behavioral Model. Dr. Rivera has also trained at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital providing neuropsychological evaluations, neurobehavioral treatment, and therapeutic support to acute neurosurgical and traumatic brain-injured inpatients and outpatients.
In 2008 Dr. Rivera participated as a clinician for the Hialeah-Albizu Partnership Program for Youth (H.A.P.P.Y. Program) in which he provided group psychotherapy to adolescents acculturating to United States as well as skills training to their parents. Dr. Rivera is bilingual, in Spanish and English. He has also done theatrical workshops for school age children including those with special needs on a voluntary basis. As part of the requirements for his doctoral degree, Dr. Rivera conducted a critical literature review examining the therapeutic value of theatrical exercises. Currently, Dr. Rivera works under the supervision of the senior licensed staff of NBI towards completing his Post-Doctoral requirements for licensure as a psychologist in Florida
