Marcela Mejia, PsyD
Dr. Mejia is a postdoctoral fellow at the Neurobehavioral Institute (NBI). She earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Carlos Albizu University, graduating with distinction. She received her Master’s of Science in Psychology from Carlos Albizu University and a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology from Florida International University.
Prior to joining NBI, Dr. Mejia did her pre-doctoral training at La Frontera Arizona at the Casa de Vida, an in-patient facility for individuals with co-occurring alcohol/drug addiction, trauma histories, and other mental health conditions. At Casa de Vida, she worked with children, adults, couples, and families with a wide range of mental health conditions, using the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) model. Dr. Mejia also conducted psychological and psychoeducational testing evaluations, provided ongoing crisis intervention, and participated in consultation among Pre-Doctoral Psychology Interns. Dr. Mejia’s Doctoral Dissertation was recently published in the Journal of Gerontology & Geriatrics Education. Dr. Mejia treats patients and conducts groups both in Spanish and in English.
